ABOUT OUR LITTLE CHAMPIONS BJJ PROGRAM
The West Coast Jiu-Jitsu Little Champions program is specially designed for children aged 4-6 years. Unlike traditional martial arts programs that might be too rigid or demanding for preschoolers, our curriculum balances structure with playfulness to keep young children engaged and excited about learning.
Each 30-minute class combines fundamental Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu movements with games and activities that develop coordination, balance, and basic motor skills. Our experienced coaches understand early childhood development and create a positive, encouraging atmosphere where children feel safe to explore and learn.
Parents in Perth consistently tell us that they notice improvements in their children's confidence, focus and behaviour after just a few weeks in our Little Champions program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT LITTLE CHAMPIONS BJJ
Yes, our Little Champions program is specifically designed with safety as the top priority. All techniques are age-appropriate, non-violent, and taught in a controlled, supervised environment. Our coaches are trained in early childhood development and maintain a safe space for all activities.
Does my child need any previous experience or special skills?
No previous experience is required! Our Little Champions program is designed as an introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for children aged 4-6. We start with the very basics and progress at a pace that's appropriate for each child's development.
What should my child wear to their first class?
For their first class, comfortable athletic clothing like a t-shirt and shorts or leggings is perfect, with no pockets. If your child continues with the program, they'll receive a proper BJJ uniform (gi) that's sized appropriately for preschoolers.
How is the Little Champions program different from other kids' martial arts classes? Our Little Champions program is specifically designed for the developmental needs of 4-6 year olds, unlike many martial arts programs that simply scale down adult techniques. We focus on age-appropriate skills, shorter class times (30 minutes), and a play-based approach that keeps young children engaged while building fundamental movement patterns.
Can parents stay and watch the classes?
Absolutely! Parents are welcome to stay and watch their child's Little Champions BJJ class from anywhere in the academy, thanks to glass-panelled training areas visible from our cosy cafeteria (with free coffee!) or the kids' corner where siblings can play.
