ABOUT OUR JUNIORS BJJ PROGRAM
The West Coast Jiu-Jitsu Juniors program is specifically designed for children aged 7-9 years, building on the foundational skills introduced in our Little Champs program while adding more technical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu concepts appropriate for this developmental stage.
Our curriculum balances fun with structured learning, introducing children to fundamental BJJ positions, transitions and basic submissions in a safe, controlled manner. Juniors learn to apply concepts like leverage, timing and technique over strength, valuable lessons that extend beyond martial arts into everyday life challenges.
Parents throughout Perth consistently report improvements in their children's focus, behaviour and confidence after joining our Juniors program. Many notice better academic performance as the discipline and attention skills developed in BJJ training transfer to the classroom. Our experienced coaches understand child development and create an environment where each child can progress at their own pace while feeling supported and challenged.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT JUNIORS BJJ
Yes. Our Juniors program introduces contact gradually and under close supervision. Coaches teach proper technique and control before any live drilling, so children build skills safely while learning respect for training partners.
Does the Juniors program help with bullying?
Yes, this is one of the biggest reasons Perth parents enrol their kids in our Juniors program. Alongside BJJ technique, we teach practical anti-bullying strategies that build the confidence to de-escalate situations and, when necessary, protect themselves without resorting to aggression.
My child finished Little Champions, is Juniors the right next step?
Absolutely. Juniors (ages 7-9) builds directly on the foundations from our Little Champions program (ages 4-6), introducing more technical positions, transitions and basic submissions at an age-appropriate pace.
What is the Wednesday "Competitors" class? It's an optional extra session for Juniors who want to prepare for BJJ competitions, with more focused technical and live-drilling work. It's not required, most families train on our regular weekly schedule.
Does my child need their own gi (uniform)?
No, not to start. The $199 joining fee includes a WCJJ BJJ gi and belt sized for your child, so they're ready for their first class without buying anything separately.
What if my child has never done a martial art before?
No experience needed. Our Juniors program is designed to welcome complete beginners as well as kids progressing from Little Champions, and our coaches structure each class so every child can progress at their own pace.
How many days a week should my child train BJJ?
Most families start with two classes a week to build consistency without overwhelming their schedule. Juniors who want faster progress, or who are preparing for competition, often move up to our Unlimited membership.
